And you thought riding the subway was dirty

NEW ORLEANS – The organizers of the 2019 World Naked Bike Ride in New Orleans ran into a potential problem they didn’t see coming – participants using public rental bikes.

Ah New Orleans in the Spring ! Warm weather, music, food and drinks, and as bunch of naked people riding bikes around. We all know that the people who participate in these nude events usually are people you don’t want to see naked.

Many of the eye-popping sights spotted as the riders pedaled their way through the French Quarter on June 8 occurred atop Blue Bikes, a fact organizers of the ride say they didn’t anticipate.

The publicly available rental bikes, which are sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield Louisiana, hit the streets of New Orleans in 2017.

No bike? No problem. Just rent one, strip off your clothes and start pedaling.

This is the first year Blue Bikes were widely used by participants, and we had not anticipated this. As such, the organization didn’t say anything about it beforehand,” World Naked Bike Ride New Orleans head of security Shane Steinkamp said. “We will make such a statement next year.”

Well, in their defense, who would have thought to ask someone entering a bike ride if they owned a bike. I think we know what they will be adding for next years entry form.

With temperatures in New Orleans exceeding 90 degrees on the day of the ride, questions of personal hygiene arise for both the naked bike riders and whoever rented the bikes next.

Most riders already cover their bike seat with a plastic bag or a towel,” Steinkamp said. “We assume that participants will use common sense.”

I got a bad feeling those rentals weren’t covered. The sweaty shit stains will be your first give away. Nothing screams sanitary like putting your hand on a seat that some guys had his sweaty balls rubbing against.

Officials with Blue Bikes New Orleans have yet to respond to questions about how often the Blue Bikes are cleaned.

Let me try and answer that, they don’t. That is what they rain is for. After all, I don’t think they expected nude people to be riding them around.

  1. London WNBR sell seat covers £2, made from recycled plastic. I’ve ridden a London “Boris Bike.” naked, but being a well behaved and considerate protestor, I put my shemagh over the seat!
